Top Tips for your Broadband this Christmas

As with all broadband suppliers, at Lothian Broadbanwe are anticipating an increase in online traffic over the festive period. With new technology gifts and the increase in video calls between families this year, we want to make sure we were helping to improve every customers online experience.

We have therefore put together some “top tips” to help you get the most out of your connection this Christmas:

  • Gaming is a huge part of Christmas now with new consoles and new games on many people’s wish lists. Make sure to update consoles before Christmas Day to avoid the increased usage on gaming servers. If you are updating or installing anything on Christmas Day, remember this may take longer and be aware that the console may be using your allocated bandwidth and can affect your other online activities such as Video calls.
  • Download movies now to avoid choking your system on the big day.
  • Hardwire your devices where possible to help make sure you are achieving the best connection for video calls or streaming.
  • When connecting your devices via Wi-Fi, make sure nothing has been placed in front of the router that could block the signal.
