Last week we announced the exciting news of the launch of Highland Broadband into the Highlands, where we plan to roll out ultrafast full-fibre broadband to the residents of Alness and beyond. And alongside that news comes the opportunity for some talented people to join our friendly engineering teams to support our expansion into the area.
We’re currently recruiting for a few roles, and it’s an amazing time to join our company as we grow and scale at pace. If you’re a dedicated and motivated individual and think you might be the perfect addition to our team here, we’d love to hear from you.
Right now, we’re looking for fibre engineers to work in the Highlands.
As we enter one of the most inspiring times in the history of our business we’re looking for fibre engineers to support our expansion into the Highlands. You’ll be part of a team helping the rapid rollout of ultrafast fibre networks in rural towns and villages across the Highlands, as well as working on the build and commissioning of the network. You’ll also be supporting the rollout of the network with high-calibre installation experiences for residential and business customers across the area.
You can see the full role details here on our careers page.
A little bit about our story…
Lothian Broadband Networks (LBN) is a fast-growing business bridging the digital divide in rural communities in the Lothians and the Highlands. Across our network, we currently provide fixed wireless and cutting-edge full-fibre broadband services to over 2,000 customers and passing over 10,000 premises.
Bringing ultrafast broadband through fibre-to-the-premise (FTTP) technology to those in rural and semi-rural locations helps people in these communities to access reliable and affordable internet, enabling them to have better connectivity than ever before.
We’re in an exciting stage of our growth plans, where we expect to pass 70,000 premises and serve 20,000 customers by the end of 2024 and the launch of Highland Broadband into the Highlands brings with it the opportunity to grow and develop with our brand.
What’s is like to work with us?
There’s no better way to find out what a company is like than hearing from the employees themselves. Read on to hear how two of our more recent recruits feel about working as part of the LBN team:
Claudette Bruce – Community Liaison Officer (Highlands)
Claudette started with us in July 2022 and as Community Liaison Officer, she’s the local face of Highland Broadband. She explains her experience of starting with the company:
“I was attracted to working for LBNL due to the fact that they are a Scottish company committed to bringing much needed ultrafast broadband to rural and remote parts of Scotland.
“Living in the Highlands and working remotely myself I fully understand all too well how frustrating broadband connections can be.
“As a Community Liaison Officer for Highland Broadband, I work with stakeholders, community groups and local people, helping them to understand who we are, what we are building, and the opportunities that ultrafast fibre can bring to remote and rural communities.
“Since joining the team in July 2022, I have felt supported and encouraged in my role, I have been given autonomy to carve out my role in the Highlands. I am delighted and proud to be part of the team that is bringing ultrafast broadband to the Highlands.”

Calum Graham – Install Team Leader
Calum started as a fibre engineer with us in February 2022 and has quickly progressed his career after being promoted to team leader within just 6 months:
“As an expanding company, I saw an opportunity to be part of something new and exciting. I was looking to expand my skillset and broaden my job role and that’s exactly what I’ve experienced since starting with the company in February 2022.
“At LBN you really do grow with the business and after just 6 months in my role I received a promotion to Install Team Leader. Working at a company with a close-knit management team, it’s easy to be noticed for your hard work and contribution – if you invest in them, the company will invest in you. There are lots of amazing training opportunities to develop in the field.
“I’ve really enjoyed being part of a great field team and have been trusted to carry out my role. There is a great future and career path at LBN if you’re willing to work hard and grow with the business. Things are always developing and everyone’s learning together. It’s great to be part of the building blocks.”
