Lothian Broadband Networks (LBN), Scotland’s local ultrafast broadband internet service provider, has today announced (Friday, 8 July) ambitious plans to further expand its reach and investment within East Lothian and Midlothian by adding Gullane, East Linton and Pathhead to its XGS-PON network rollout plan for 2022. Gullane will be the next location with work on the 1,600-premise build starting in July with the first customers being connected in September; the East Linton and Pathhead builds will start shortly after with the entire network builds across all locations being completed in 2022.
LBN has recently secured £25m in funding to support its rollout strategy of transforming Scotland’s rural communities that don’t have access to a gigabit capable internet connection. The company’s ultrafast, robust and reliable broadband network has already been fully rolled out in Gifford, Longniddry and Pencaitland in the first half of 2022.
With the cost of living continuing to rise, LBN has created 24-month packages to ensure high-quality and affordable broadband is accessible to all the communities it services.
Gavin Rodgers, CEO at LBN, commented:
“Our latest full-fibre broadband investments will give local businesses and residents access to ultrafast broadband that is not only as fast as anywhere else in the UK but also reliable and affordable.”
